National Inception Workshop

The Eighth Operational Phase of the GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP-OP8) seeks to strengthen community-led initiatives that promote environmental conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods. The programme will support Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Community-Based Organisations (CBOs), and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in implementing innovative and inclusive projects that generate both local and global environmental benefits while improving the well-being of vulnerable communities.

The National Inception Workshop for the Eighth Operational Phase will bring together representatives from government agencies, development partners, civil society organisations, community institutions, academia, and technical experts to deliberate on the strategic priorities, thematic focus areas, implementation framework, and grant opportunities under SGP-OP8.

The Workshop aims to:

• Launch the GEF Small Grants Programme – Operational Phase 8 (SGP-OP8) in India and present its vision, strategic priorities, and implementation framework.
• Develop a common understanding among stakeholders on programme implementation modalities and expected environmental, social, and livelihood outcomes.
• Validate the Landscape Strategies for the Coastal and Marine Landscape, Aravalli Landscape, and North-East Landscape through technical deliberations.
• Strengthen collaboration among government agencies, civil society organisations, research institutions, and technical partners for effective implementation.
